If you go to Oaklandnet.com, you can see any new info on news and events regarding Oakland -- it is the city's webite. They also have an option for email updates by category that you may find worth signing onto. Just FYI...
Keep aware that the Mehserle trial in LA is now in jury deliberation (starting Friday afternoon) -- keep alternate routes home planned if you are away on the day they reach a verdict. The OPD is in their Mobile Field Force Response format until this passes.
As you know the cut of 80 of our police officers has been decided on already and pink slips have been handed out. There is another cut of an additional 120 (!!!!) in the immediate works and we have to do everything we can to stop this. A few of us are working on strategy -- please send your ideas and knowledge so we can handle this as efficiently and as completely as we are able!
